2nd TRAIL MAINTENANCE PROJECT THIS SATURDAY IN FRISCO
The Town of Frisco invites you to the second trail maintenance project this summer on Mount Royal Trail - taking place this Saturday, July 26th. Volunteers will help maintain the trail, including trail closure/restoration work in braided areas and water bars, and check dams for erosion control efforts. Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking lot at the end of 2nd Street, just beyond the bike path at 8:30 a.m. and should dress for a day outdoors - bring lunch, water, work gloves, layed clothing including long pants, long sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen & insect repellent. MOUNTAIN ART GATHERING DISCUSSED ON THE KRYSTAL CONVERSATION
Doyle Goebel and Curtis Nazworth are back to talk about the Mountain Art Gathering - A classic art show featuring 15 of America’s leading artists as well as a local high school booth. STAGE 1 FIRE RESTRICTIONS GO INTO EFFECT IN EAGLE COUNTY
Due to the warm and dry weather patterns, Eagle County, in a cooperative effort with local fire authorities have placed a Stage 1 fire restriction into effect. Under a Stage 1 restriction, the following acts are prohibited until further notice: 1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, coal or wood burning stove, any type of charcoal fueled broiler or open fire of any type in undeveloped aras. 2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, in a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least 3 feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable vegetation. 3. Using explosive material; the arrest and conviction of the use of these devises is a class 4 felony. 4. Welding, or operating acetylene or similar torch with open flame outside of buildings. 5. Operating or using any internal combustion engine without a spark arresting device. properly installed, maintained and in effective working order.

POSITIVE DISCUSSIONS ON DAM ROAD JOINT MEETING
On Friday, July 18th, in a joint meeting between Summit County and Denver Water representatives, positive and productive discussions were held concerning future access and security measures for the Dillon Dam Road, also known as Summit County Road 7. Recommendations developed were taken back to respective boards and public official for their consideration. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for this week.

FREE RIDE IN BRECK ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY REDUCTION IN SERVICE
Effective immediately, the Breckenridge Free Ride Transit System will have a temporary reduction of service for MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY ONLY until August 22, 2008. All routes will be reduced to a one-hour service level to accommodate training for the Transit Operators. The service will operate its normal hours of 6:30 a.m. until Midnight, but on an hour frequency per bus stop.

EAGLE COUNTY WARNS RESIDENTS ABOUT THE WEST NILE VIRUS
Eagle County Enviromental Health officials urge the public to play smart and avoid mosquito bites as cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Colorado. According to Jill Hunsaker, Eagle County Public Health Manager, West Nile virus can cause serious illness or lead to death. ”Even though we have a relatively short mosquito season in Eagle County, Culex mosquitoes are most likely to be infected with West Nile virus and are looking for a blood meal during July and August,” says Ray Merry, Director of Enviromental Health for Eagle County. You are encouraged to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when mosquitoes are most active - from dusk until dawn; or apply insect repellents.

FREE FIREWOOD AT PEAKS TRAILHEAD - WITH PERMITS
Summit County residents will be able to cut firewoood for free at the Peaks Trailhead in Frisco starting immediately. Limited permits will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Dillon Ranger Station in Silverthorne. The normal firewood fees of $10 per cord are being waived. After getting their permit, individuals can access the firewood cutting area in Frisco by going south on 2nd Avenue until it dead ends. The permit is only valid for down, dead wood within the boundaries. A maxium of two cords are allowed per issued permit. The permits will expire July 30th. ”CATCH THE READING BUG” AT THE SUMMIT COUNTY LIBRARIES THIS SUMMER
Get ready for a fantastic summer at the Summit County Libraries...it’s all about bugs this year! Fun story times, Creepy Crawley crafts, and bug-tacular performers. Prizes for reading too! The children’s summer reading program kicks off the week of June 9th and goes through July 30th. The Summit County Library encourages school children to read during their summer vacation, use the library and develop the habit of reading. Library programs take advantage of children’s natural curiosity to introduce new subjects and different genres - things kids might not study in school, but are interested in. The Summit County Library’s summer reading program is free and open to the public. Contact any of the libraries for more information.

C.D.O.T. ROADWORK THAT MAY AFFECT TRAVEL IN THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEK/MONTH
WB/EB I-70 between the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail(milemarker 206-180) Mobile lane closures at various locations for striping & asphalt patching. MO-THU, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Delays are possible. WB I-70 Eisenhower Tunnel to silverthorne (milemarker 213-205) the right will be closed for bridge expansion joint operations & paving, the later to be done at night. Commercial vehicles over 26,000 GVW will be detoured onto US 6 over Loveland Pass from 6a-7p. CO 9 Northbound/Southbound on the northside of Hoosier pass will have paving & striping operations that may cause 20 minute delays MO-FRI from 7a-9p through September. CO 9 NB & SB in Breckenridge, 8:30a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through June single lane closures for striping operations, delays are possible. CO 9 northbound/southbound near Swan Mountain Road-7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mon-Fri, single lane closures with intermittent stops for storm sewer, caisson earthwork, curb and gutter work. delays are possible through July. I-70 EB & WB between Dowd Junction & East Vail through August, striping operations during the day & paving operations at night. Speed limits reduced to 40 mph.

TOWN OF SILVERTHORNE ANNOUNCES SLASH SITE DETAILS
To assist Silverthorne property owners with their beetle tree removal efforts, the town will provide a fee based slash and chip disposal option this year. Materials collected at the Silverthorne site will be taken to the Climax Mine where they will be used for soil conservation efforts. No site admittance will be provided without a ticket, which may be purchased in advance starting May 9th. Tickets may be bought at the Town Hall or the Silverthorne Recreation Center only.
