Summit County is heading into another weekend with high fire danger but no fire restrictions.
Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons reviewed the forecast with fire officials, and they are confident monsoon moisture will return as soon as Sunday. After that the forecast is calling for 10 days of wetter weather.
The entire White River National Forest has no restrictions, as nearby counties like Clear Creek and Boulder enter Stage 1 and Stage 2 restrictions. Campfires are now off limits in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Colorado Sun reports higher humidity is already helping fire crews on the Front Range. There was minimal growth overnight on fires near Loveland, Lyons and south Jefferson County.
But that is not the case for the entire state. A new fire in southwestern Colorado, the Bucktail Fire, has burned approximately 2,000 acres since Thursday in a heavily wooded area.
