Theater SilCo’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ stars a cast of people and puppets

On stage with Theater Silco this holiday season is “A Christmas Carol,” and this production, with 7 humans and a cast of puppets, is no bah-humbug.

“What’s amazing about this production is it’s very joyful and very funny, which is unique to this production,” Ringsmith says. “The puppet becomes a co-creator, where life gets breathed into it.”

That was D.C.-based actor and Silco veteran Hunter Ringsmith. Like the rest of the cast he plays multiple roles, including nephew Fred and Mister Fezziwig.

If Christmas puppets reminds you of the freewheeling wackiness of “A Muppets Christmas Carol,” you aren’t alone. Ringsmith gets the same vibe.

“Energetically there is a connection,” Ringsmith says. “They’re sometimes very silly, but it’s all very fun.”

“A Christmas Carol” shows now through December 22 with Theater Silco.
