Just after 7 o’clock last night the temperature at a weather station near Fraser outside of Winter Park fell below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
At 9 o’clock this morning it still has not climbed above negative 20.
That station at Fraser Flats is the coldest of the cold today. But all across the High Country this morning has been the coldest of the season:
-18.2F in Summit Cove
-13.4F in north Breckenridge
-12F at Soda Ridge in Keystone
-10F on Vail Pass
-5.8F at the Krystalized weather station in Dillon
Most valley floors are at least 18 degrees colder than this time yesterday. This mini-inversion means high alpine passes like Loveland Pass (6F) and Fremont Pass (3F) are slightly warmer than low-lying towns. Unlike Fraser the Loveland Pass weather station never dipped below zero.
But it won’t last. NOAA forecast calls for sun and highs near 30 today.
