Back-to-back resignations in Frisco leave 2 holes on town council

Another Frisco town councilmember is resigning.

Mayor pro tem Andrew Aerenson is moving outside of town limits and no longer qualifies to serve. He was less than a year into his second term.

Writes the town in a statement, “councilmember Aerenson was unfailingly prepared for every town council meeting and brought a deep curiosity around how to make government better.”

Frisco is already replacing another councilmember, Lisa Holenko, who resigned in January for personal reasons. Council voted to appoint her replacement, rather than hold a time-consuming – and potentially expensive – election.

And a whole lot of people are lining up to fill Holenko’s seat. In less than a month 15 candidates have applied. The winning candidate serves through April 2026 and the next municipal election.

At the Frisco council meeting Feb. 11, the remaining five members decide how to fill Aerenson’s seat. History points to another appointment – Frisco rarely holds special elections.
