Breckenridge lock down suspect sports a long rap sheet, but no gun

The 22-year-old man responsible for Tuesday’s lock down in Breckenridge has a criminal history.

Santino Gallardo has five prior convictions, including felony assault as a juvenile, theft and domestic violence. The District Attorney’s office asked judge Edward Casias for $7500 bond, but Casias doubled down, saying the suspect could be a flight risk given his history.

Gallardo is in jail on $15,000 bond. He is suspected of felony menacing in Warrior’s Mark before fleeing police, leading to a two-and-a-half hour lock down near the Highlands neighborhood late Tuesday.

Breckenridge PD today confirms Gallardo was not armed when he was arrested.

“PD did not find a gun on the suspect at the time of the arrest, but the investigation to the initial argument indicates he brandished a handgun,” assistant chief Deric Gress says in an email.

One more lingering question: Where was Gallardo going when police found him hours after the lock down ended?

Gress: “The suspect was arrested off a Summit Stage bus after it stopped in Frisco after the driver recognized Mr. Gallardo as the person sought by police.”

Charges are pending through the DA’s office, due by Aug. 8.

Gallardo is back in court Aug. 20.
