Hey you red-eye flyers: Starting this Sunday, May 5, Denver International Airport is shutting down all security checkpoints between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. It will stay this way indefinitely.
A DIA survey shows there is little to no flyer demand in the wee hours of the morning. And besides, there are no flights between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Airport officials hope to save cash and shuffle late-night security personnel to other shifts.
