Dillon adopts Summit’s first ban on menthol cigarettes and nicotine pouches

Dillon is the first local town to outlaw flavored tobacco and nicotine, including menthol cigarettes, chewing tobacco and nicotine pouches like Zyn.

This ban takes effect on Jan. 1, 2026, in town limits only. That includes Dillon City Market and neighboring convenience stores.

Summit County public health and a group of local teenagers have been pitching the ban across the county, building off an existing countywide tax of 80% on all nicotine products, plus another $4 per pack of cigarettes.

Other towns are close behind. Public health officials tell Krystal 93 that Breckenridge, Frisco and other towns will vote on similar flavored nicotine bans later this spring.
