For the first time, Vail’s Epic Pass is starting at more than $1K

An Epic Pass for the 2025-2026 ski season will cost you more than ever before.

The unrestricted adult Epic Pass went on sale today for $1,051. That is up 7% from last year’s starting price of $982 and the first time in pass history it opens at more than $1,000.

Vail’s biggest competitor, the Ikon Pass from Alterra Mountain Company, goes on sale March 13 for the 2025-2026 season. There is no pricing yet, but odds are good it will also cost you more. This season it sold for a new record high of $1,249.

Mega-pass roller coaster

It has been a wild few years in the mega-pass era, starting with the post-pandemic season of 2020-2021. That’s when Vail slashed the price of an Epic Pass to $783. It was the cheapest since 2015. Ikon also cut prices.

Ever since then, prices for both passes have been climbing steadily. In five years, the Epic Pass is up more than 34%.

Meanwhile, Vail Resorts stock today is trading at less than $160 per share, the lowest in nearly five years.

Vail has not confirmed any new resort acquisitions for the upcoming season. The 2025-2026 Epic Pass buys you unlimited access to 42 ski areas on three continents (North America, Australia, Europe). And Colorado is no longer the center of the Vail universe. If you’re going by sheer number of resorts, that is Pennsylvania with eight wholly owned properties.

The Ikon Pass this season is unrestricted at 17 ski areas in North America with limited access at 42 more on four continents (Australia, Europe, Asia, South America).
