Not seen since 2018: NYE fireworks in Breckenridge

Fireworks will light up the night sky in Breckenridge tonight for the first time since 2018.

Nearly six years ago the town put a ban on professional fireworks, saying they cause traffic jams and might cause a wildfire.

But just this fall town council was convinced a New Year’s Eve fireworks display is safe for both.

(Private fireworks have always been outlawed in Summit County and surrounding U.S. Forest Service land.)

Tonight’s Breckenridge NYE fireworks are happening around 9:30 p.m. over Peak 9. See them from the base of Peak 9 or Peak 8, and just about anywhere downtown with a clear view of the resort, including Carter Park and Ridge Street.

Copper NYE fireworks

Starting 5 p.m. at Center Village is the Copper New Year’s Eve bash with a torchlight ski parade down Main Vein and live music from DJ Landry. The Denver Dolls are playing Sawmill at 7 p.m. and then fireworks are shooting off around 10 p.m. – just in time for East Coast midnight.

Keystone NYE fireworks

Starting 7 p.m. above River Run Village is the Keystone New Year’s Eve celebration with a torchlight ski parade down River Run followed immediately by fireworks.

Night skiing is open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
