Summit claims 8 athletes on this winter’s U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams

Homegrown Olympians and Team Summit alums highlight this season’s U.S. Ski and Snowboard team rosters.

Back on the men’s snowboard slopestyle team is Silverthorne’s own Red Gerard, coming fresh off a season with World Cup podiums in Canada and Copper. Two-time Olympian Chris Corning is back, but he’s claiming Avon as his hometown these days.

Joining Red and Chris on the women’s slope team are local rookies Kaitlyn Adams, 19, and Lily Dhawornvej, just 15 years old and already crushing it!

Returning to the men’s snowboard halfpipe team are Chase Blackwell and Lucas Foster. For years they called the Copper halfpipe home, training with legendary local coach Jim Smith.

Team Summit alpine stars

The U.S. Ski Team is loaded with Colorado talent – nearly half the roster lives or trains here! – and Summit County claims three athletes.

Making the leap from development team to alpine national team is Stanley Buzek, a graduate of Summit High School and former Team Summit all-star. The U.S. team named him Alpine Rookie of the Year this past season.

Team Summit claims a pair of brothers on the roster, second-year alpine skier Camden Palmquist and his younger brother, Jevin. This is Jevin’s rookie season.
