A hiker was airlifted from the Tenmile Ramge today after falling 20 to 30 feet from a ridgeline.
The woman was hiking with a large group around 930 a.m. when she slipped between Peak 2 and Peak 3. This zone is a Class 3+ scramble.
The woman suffered a serious lower-body injury and was flown to a Denver hospital.
Flight For Life landed a team with Summit County Rescue Group on Peak 5. The team hiked to the injured woman, who was getting initial treatment from her fellow hikers.
Rescuers then called the Army National Guard at Eagle County Airport. The high-altitude team flew to Summit and hoisted the injured hiker from precarious terrain.
This was the second helicopter mission in two days for Summit rescuers.
On Friday a solo hiker suffered a medical emergency on Keller Mountain and waa airlifted to the hospital.
