Poll: Denverites are the most ‘Colorado’ people in Colorado

A new poll suggests Denverites are living up to Colorado stereotypes.

Colorado Polling Institute surveyed more than 400 Denver residents this June. Here are the findings:

  • 72% have hiked, biked or otherwise played in the mountains in the past year
  • 68% own a pet. The vast majority are dog owners.
  • 54% have indulged in a craft beer recently
  • 40% have been to Red Rocks in the past year
  • 33% have used cannabis in the past year. Westword claims that is double the national average.

Another recent poll, from Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, surveyed mountain town locals in Colorado’s resort hotbeds of Summit, Eagle, Grand, Pitkin and Routt counties.

The findings here show mountain town locals are disillusioned with where they live – despite most of them not living there long.

  • 81% of low to middle-income earners say quality of life is declining
  • 70% moved to their mountain town in the past 5 years
  • 64% of new residents are renters. 36% own.
  • 48% of second homeowners are older than 65 years old
