More than 2,600 buildings in northern Summit County are without power this morning, including the Silverthorne Recreation Center.
Xcel Energy confirms power went out just after 6 a.m. Cause is unknown. Crews have been in the field for more than three hours trying to pinpoint the source. Xcel’s power outage map estimated power return by 8 a.m. but the power was still out by 10:45am. By 11:15am some users in Silverthorne were reporting they had power back on.
The Silverthorne Rec was temporarily closed during the outage. It will reopen when the power is restored.
Other town buildings, like town hall, and businesses along Highway 9 are affected.
The Silverthorne power outage is one of dozens statewide this morning.
More than 10,000 people statewide are in the dark at 9 a.m., including Golden, the Denver Metro area, Salida, and most recently Idaho Springs. That outage could last until 4 p.m.
