‘Peak existence’: Travis Rice’s Natural Selection Tour adds ski series in AK

Travis Rice is taking over the world.

Three years after launching the Natural Selection Tour, where freestyle snowboarders throw down on the world’s biggest backcountry features, Rice and Red Bull are adding a ski series

Natural Selection Ski comes to Alaska (location TBD) in April 2025, one month after NST snowboard hosts its fourth season in Revelstoke.

And Rice won’t stop there. In February NST debuts a surf series in Micronesia and bike series in Tāhuna Queenstown, New Zealand.

SKI mag confirms Candide Thovex is helping Rice design Natural Selection Ski as a backcountry contest for skiers, by skiers. It’s what has made the snowboard series so popular.

Like Rice and his films – we’re thinking especially “The Art of Flight” and “The Fourth Phase” – marketing sells this latest chapter of the NST as earth shattering.

“The pursuit is our story,” reads the teaser tagline on YouTube. “Where Mother Nature is cast as both hero and villain. This is peak existence, not an extreme sport. This is a commitment to living, not a death wish. This is a path toward absolution, not a medal count.”

So far the internet is stoked – as long as we can stream it all on YouTube.
