Winter is here with a vengeance.
In just seven days this month, Summit County has recorded more snow than all of November last year: 11.5 inches and counting at the official record-keeping weather station in Dillon.
Copper Mountain is swimming in it with 47 inches already. Last year Copper had 44 inches total in November.
Every other local ski area isn’t far behind:
- Keystone… 33 inches (2024) vs. 20 inches (2023)
- Breckenridge… 32 inches (2024) vs. 36 inches (2023)
- Arapahoe Basin… 30 inches (2024) vs. 18 inches (2023)
- Loveland… 28 inches (2024) vs. 34 inches (2023)
More snow, same terrain
All this fresh snow most likely does not mean more terrain for opening day Nov. 8 at Breckenridge and Copper.
At Copper, American Eagle in Center Village starts spinning at 8:55 a.m. for turns on Rhapsody, Fairplay and Main Vein. Woodward has a terrain park at the top of American Eagle.
At Breck, Colorado Chair and 5 SuperChair at Peak 8 fire up at 9 a.m. for riding on Springmeier and 4 O’Clock. On Saturday Rip’s Ride opens at the bunny hill and the park crew opens a small park on lower Springmeier.
Also opening Nov. 8 is Winter Park.
Opening Saturday, Nov. 9 is Loveland Ski Area at 8:30 a.m. with Chet’s Dream for turns on Mambo, Catwalk and Home Run.
