A new travel survey from Longwoods International shows Americans are ready to find something new and exciting right here on home soil.
The survey, taken earlier this month, found 61% of domestic travelers are hunting for diverse music, food and other experiences. Most of them say unique cultural traditions are easy to find.
When Americans do leave the country, most are heading to Europe (43%). Transatlantic trips are more than two times more popular than Asia, South America or the Caribbean (17%).
But even domestic travel is taking a hit early this year. Compared to last year 5% fewer Americans have travel plans in the next six months, from 93% to 88%.
The survey was a national sample of 1,000 people over the age of 18.
