Arapahoe Basin is pulling back to weekends only starting June 1 with a possible closing date of June 8. The slopes are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday that week.
Depending on Mother Nature A-Basin might extend the season one more weekend to June 15, again Friday through Sunday.
“We need cool temps and grey skies to get us there,” ski area officials said in a statement today.
Until June 1 chairs are spinning daily on Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express.
Last year the Basin closed on June 16. In 2019 it was open on July 4. In 1995 lifts were spinning through Aug. 10, the longest season ever.
Down in the base village this Sunday, May 25 is the annual Festival of the Brewpubs. A ticket is $35 for a commemorative glass and unlimited pours from 12 Colorado breweries. (No, it does not include a lift ticket.)
Summer operations get rolling Friday, June 27 with the via ferrata, aerial adventure park, disc golf and new mountain biking trails.
