A paved recpath spanning the width of Eagle County is getting its final few miles this summer and next.
On July 1 crews break ground near Wolcott on the last seven miles of the Eagle Valley Trail. This 63-mile project is over a decade in the making, connecting Vail to Glenwood Canyon with offshoots into Minturn.
When finished next summer, you can ride more than 140 miles on interconnected recpaths from Summit County to Aspen.

“This isn’t just about finishing a trail, it’s about connecting the people and places that make Eagle County special,” Eagle County Commissioner Jeanne McQueeney said in a statement. “We’re building something that will benefit our community for generations.”
Finishing the Eagle Valley Trail will not be cheap or quick. This final stretch will cost $13 million, including $5 million from a federal grant, plus partner funding from Eagle County towns and metro districts, Great Outdoors Colorado, Colorado Department of Transportation, private and family foundations, local businesses, and individual donors.
Officials estimate it will open in full next summer
