UPDATE 9 p.m., July 9 — A Blue River man has been charged with first-degree murder, nearly four days after a Breckenridge woman was found dead in his home.
District attorney Heidi McCollum confirms the murder charges to Krystal 93, saying the suspect will be in Summit County court July 10 at 9 a.m. He has been in jail since Monday on charges of assault and menacing.
Since his arrest state and local authorities have suspected homicide.
ORIGINAL — A Breckenridge woman was killed in Blue River this week, the victim of a possible homicide.
Summit County coroner confirms Jordan Labarre, 32, was found dead Monday evening. Cause and manner of death are pending autopsy.
A 47-year-old Blue River man was arrested the same night and remains in custody on five charges, including assault, and menacing with a deadly weapon, according to Summit County Sheriff’s Office. He has not been charged in the killing.
Labarre’s body was found in the suspect’s home after reports of live gunfire. Police say the suspect surrendered peacefully.
Investigation continues with local police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. They are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence before the suspect’s first court appearance on July 14.
Labarre worked as a hostess at Breck restaurants, and played recreational league softball and ice hockey. Her relationship to the suspect is unknown at press time.
