Blue River Watershed Group wants to see you in two weeks, Sept. 5-6, for the annual Blue River Festival.
“It’s a countywide cleanup festival from Breckenridge down to Green Mountain,” Reyna Shedler with the watershed group tells Krystal 93.
The festival has been going strong for a decade, but in recent years it has grown exponentially.
“Last year we had 200 volunteers come out and clean up 4,000 pounds of trash from our rivers,” Shedler says. “It’s a great way to get out there with your friends and family and help us clean it up.”
The festival gets started Friday, Sept. 5 with a launch party at the Patagonia Store in downtown Breckenridge.
The big show is Saturday, Sept. 6, when you and your crew put on your gloves, roll up your sleeves, and clean one of seven stretches between Breck and Green Mountain Reservoir.
Everyone has a favorite. And for Shedler, that is the headwaters at 11,500 feet.
“I love the stretch where it starts at Hoosier Pass,” she says. “It is so cool we have the headwaters here in our county, and it goes all the way down to the Colorado River.”
Cleanup day on Saturday ends with a party at Frisco Bay Marina, featuring food, drink, door prizes and live music. Bring a chair, blanket, lunch and the family, including furry friends.
