Man jailed for grisly crimes in suspected Frisco murder

A lone suspect is accused of murder and tampering with a body after a woman was found under suspicious circumstances late Monday in Frisco.

Luis Antonio Mendez Hernandez appeared in Summit County court today, where Judge Reed Owens found probable cause to jail him on four felonies:

  • Murder in the First Degree after Deliberation
  • Murder in the First Degree with Extreme Indifference
  • Murder in the Second Degree
  • Tampering with a Deceased Human Body

Judge Owens set Mendez Hernandez’s bail at $5 million. His reported victim, a woman of undisclosed age, was found dead at a residence in Frisco following a medical emergency call around midnight on Monday. Frisco police found criminal evidence to justify a search warrant, leading the the suspect’s arrest. He has been held since then.

In a release, the town says Owens sealed the warrantless affidavit to “protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation, and in respect for the victim.”

“The age, familial relationships, address, and occupation of the defendant may not be released at this time,” the town release reads.

Formal charges are due by Jan. 6. Mendez Hernandez is in court again Jan. 12.
