20-year-old woman named as victim in suspected Frisco murder case

A 20-year-old woman was identified today as the victim of a grisly suspected murder earlier this week.

Summit County Coroner confirms Griselda Amarilis Lopez-Racancoj, of Frisco, was found dead at a residence in town just after midnight on Monday.

A suspect, Luis Antonio Mendez-Hernandez, remains in jail on $5 million bond. He is accused of four felonies, including two counts of first-degree murder and tampering with a dead body.

Identifying the victim took longer than expected because of the suspicious circumstances and partially undisclosed details of the case.

According to a town spokeswoman, police were responding to a medical call when they found evidence for a search warrant, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Two days later Mendez-Hernandez was in court, where a judge set his multi-million-dollar bond after finding probable cause for premeditated murder and tampering. The judge also sealed the suspect’s warrant, which prevents additional details from coming out before his next court hearing on Jan. 12.
