Summit County smashes 92-year-old high temp record 

For the first time in recorded history Summit County broke 50 degrees Fahrenheit on Feb. 6. 

The official high temperature was 51 degrees, according to the National Weather Service station in Dillon, beating the record of 49 degrees from way back in 1934. Temperature records there date back to 1910. 

This is Summit’s first high-temp record of 2026 but the fourth of ski season, after three consecutive record-breaking days over Christmas. 

In recent years high temps in early February have fluctuated from the mid-40s in 2023 to just 10 degrees in 2020. 

The coldest of the cold on this day? A high of 5 degrees in 1982, when the low temperature hit -27 degrees.
