Local freeski phenom Lainey Steen has done it again.
Just three days after winning her first-ever Junior Worlds title for women’s ski slopestyle, the 14-year-old won a second title today at ski Big Air in Calgary.
Just like her slopestyle victory, there was no question in the judges’ minds. Lainey scored a combined 154.50 on two of three runs, including the highest score of the day on her final hit. She beat second-place finisher Emilie Lewis of France by more than 11 points. Maya Broadbent of New Zealand finished third.
Lainey was the only U.S. skier at women’s Big Air finals today. She is halfway to a Junior Worlds sweep, competing in ski halfpipe tomorrow – where she has already qualified in second – and rail jam on Friday.
