A whole lot of new concrete is coming to downtown Dillon months earlier than expected.
When spring snow melted off early, the town opened construction on a pair of updated pickleball courts. Contractor Columbine Hills Construction began pouring the foundation in April for opening day by mid-summer.
Columbine Hills apparently doesn’t have a busy schedule right now, and while crews are there anyway, they have offered to pour concrete for the new Dillon Farmers Market plaza.
“Town staff believes it would be beneficial for the community to go ahead and complete a majority of the concrete plaza in May … so the market attendees won’t have to walk on the loose gravel surface that presently exists,” reads a town memo.

The memo continues, saying Columbine Hills “had an opening in their May 2026 concrete schedule to complete this plaza work.” Staff believe tacking this onto the pickleball project makes life easier for everyone. The bonds and insurance are already in place. So is the equipment and crew.
Town council tonight hears the pitch. Dillon already has the money with a pre-approved budget of $1.5 million for plaza upgrades, including landscaping, storage and building space. The concrete will cost about $205,000. The rest of the upgrades will wait until next year as planned.
