A refrigerator line erupted at City Market in Breckenridge around 1 p.m. today, forcing customers and employees to evacuate.
Red White & Blue Fire confirms no one was injured when the ruptured line leaked chemicals into the store. A City Market tech was called to assess the damage and secure the line. There is no lingering danger.
A video on Facebook, posted to the private group One Man’s Junk, claimed “an explosion sound behind the deli counter” immediately before the store was evacuated. In the video dozens are seen standing outside the store as fire engines and police cruisers line the sidewalk.
The City Market tech confirms this has happened before at other City Market stores across the state. RW&B Fire tells Krystal 93 this is the first time it has happened in Breck.
At press time, the store manager and Summit County environmental health are working to reopen the store. It should be ready for customers again by 4:30 p.m.
