Construction has a waste problem. Silverthorne could be the solution.

High Country Conservation Center wants to slash construction and demolition waste – and booming Silverthorne could be the test pilot.

Silverthorne Town Council is hearing about new policies, like disposal bans and contractor incentives. A recent study by HC3 and consultant, Resource Recycling Systems, says these policies will cut back on construction waste.

And Summit County needs it: 30% of all trash at the local landfill comes from construction and demolition. Policies alone could divert up to 37% of it.

Silverthorne is one of the fastest-growing home markets in Summit. New construction along Highway 9 and into Three Peaks has erupted since the late 2010s.
