Two different contractors in Summit County face strikingly similar charges for years of alleged criminal fraud.
William Devoy is accused of fraud for taking at least $15,000 from Great Divide Builders for work he never did. An investigation into those claims unveiled at least three years of unpaid taxes. He has not made a plea and back in court Jan. 13.
Justin Ord is accused of fraud for stealing at least $100,000 from clients, mostly elderly residents, for incomplete jobs. He is also back in court Jan. 13 for a plea sentencing hearing on both charges. But he has been there before — a plea hearing was scheduled and reset earlier this year. He never officially pleaded on charges.
The local District Attorney’s office says Ord owes over $2 million in unpaid taxes.
