A transient man on his way to California got a little help from Summit County Sheriff’s deputies.
The sheriff’s log shows deputies first met the unidentified man on Highway 9, when he was spotted walking down the road. They feared he was drunk and might get hit.
Deputies confirmed the man had been drinking, but he was otherwise “healthy and aware of his surroundings,” according to the log. He told deputies he was on his way to California when he ran out of money. He had no transportation either.
Instead of taking him to the drunk tank, deputies gave him a ride to the Frisco Transit Center. They also bought him a hot meal and a ticket for the Bustang, in hopes it would help the man on his journey west.
