A structure fire shut down access to Summit County landfill this afternoon.
The fire erupted in the landfill entry building around 2 p.m., spewing smoke and flames. Everyone inside made it out safely.
Crews with Summit Fire & EMS and Red White & Blue Fire quickly extinguished the blaze. Flames charred the outside of the building but did not spread. The building itself is still standing.
Investigators are looking into the cause.
Entry to the landfill is closed the rest of today.
