Frisco trailhead with 100K annual visitors will close for 2.5 months

The Meadow Creek trailhead in Frisco, a perennial favorite of day hikers and leaf peepers, will close for 10 weeks of rehab this summer.

From May 19 to June 14 the trailhead off Exit 203 is closed daily. From June 15 to Aug. 2 the trailhead is closed on weekdays only.

Crews are rebuilding the first half-mile of Meadow Creek Trail, where erosion from rain, snow and 100,000 boots every year are decimating the route.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we conduct this critical maintenance,” Dillon District Ranger Adam Bianchi says in a statement. “I am pleased that we will be able to complete this work while also allowing the public to hike it on many weekends this summer.”

This closure does not impact upper Meadow Creek trail and nearby connecting routes, like Lily Pad Lakes trail and Gore Range Trail. You can still access upper Meadow Creek via the Lily Pad trailhead in Wildernest, or the long way around via Upper Tenmile Trail (Frisco Exit 201) to Gore Range Trail.
