Habitat for Humanity needs more time for its Summit Cove homes

A long-awaited Habitat for Humanity project in Summit Cove will need to wait a little longer.

Habitat officials came to the Summit County commissioner meeting today, asking for more time to get started on five affordable homes at Soda Creek. They first pitched the project in 2022 and were approved soon after.

Habitat’s contract with the county said it would start building by end of this year, but that is not happening. Habitat has been delayed by work on eight other homes in the Fairplay area.

The new contract gives Habitat another year to get started, by December 2025.
