ICYMI: Keystone drone show, Bigfoot on a bike and Breck’s pond-crossing carnage

The raucous crowd went silent as the unicyclist wheeled up to the pond.

It was all hoots, hollers and drenched bikes at the annual “Inde-Pond-Ence Crossing” on July 4 in Breck, where dozens of brave-slash-crazy cyclists pedaled over Maggie Pond on a devious tightwire made with wooden planks and inflatable tubes.

But when that unicyclist appeared, no one breathed. Would the guy on one wheel make it further than people on two?

Keystone kicked off the holiday weekend on July 3 with live music in River Run Village, followed by the first of two local drone shows.

The “Stories in the Sky” show over the slopes brought “oohs” and “awes” to the crowd of several hundred at Kindred Resort, one of the (many) drone show sponsors, and the newest property in Keystone. Some marveled at the wizardry of 500 synchronized drones, while others groaned at yet another sponsor message, as a John Denver soundtrack played in the courtyard.

Downtown Frisco was slammed for the annual Fourth of July parade. Hundreds of people lined the streets to see classic cars, floats and bicycles cruising down Main Street.

The Krystal 93 team stepped out of the booth to chase after Sasquatch on a bike. The elusive critter was one of two Bigfeet spotted in Frisco that day.
