A decomposing body was pulled from half-frozen Dillon Reservoir on April 30, near the disc golf course at Frisco Peninsula.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office confirms a hiker reported the body floating just off the shore that afternoon. There were no signs of foul play.
Authorities believe the unidentified man had been in the lake for weeks or longer.
Dillon Reservoir was completely frozen for months until a warm spell in mid-April, although the water did freeze later than usual. The ice was not safe for travel until Jan. 9, according to Denver Water, which owns the reservoir.
The victim’s name and cause of death are pending autopsy through Summit County Coroner.
