A person was found dead yesterday in Blue River and now state authorities are investigating homicide.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called to Summit County this morning, nearly 12 hours after Blue River police found a body in a home at Aspen Meadows just west of Blue River town hall. A suspect is in custody on unrelated charges.
Police have not identified the victim, pending a coroner’s report. They also have not identified the suspect or released charges.
“Authorities emphasize that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat or danger to the community,” Blue River officials said in a statement today.
Around 6:20 p.m. yesterday, residents in the Aspen Meadows area were told to lock doors and windows for “immediate risk from a dangerous and possibly armed suspect.”
Police were called to investigate reports of live gunfire. Several additional shots were fired after police arrived, although it is not clear if someone fired at police. One man was arrested at a nearby home, where police discovered the victim’s body soon after.
The area was locked down for about two hours. Residents as far as Frisco received an SC Alert about the lockdown.
