Search continues for missing rafter on Upper Colorado River

One man was killed, and another remains missing on the Upper Colorado River below Radium Hot Springs in Grand County.

Grand County Sheriff confirms Brent Boulter, 56, of Aurora, died when his raft flipped near Yarmony Rapid on Saturday. Earlier reports said he drowned upriver in Gore Canyon. Bystanders attempted CPR but were not successful.

A second rafter, Thomas Russell, 61, of Littleton, has not been found. Authorities scoured the river Saturday and Sunday, using rafts, ground crews, drones, and a Union Pacific Railroad Hi-Rail. Russell was last seen wearing a blue fishing shirt and khaki shorts. He and Boulter were not wearing life jackets when their raft capsized.

A third rafter was able to self-rescue and swim to shore.

The search continues today between Radium and Two Bridges.
