A small wildfire burned about one-tenth of an acre at Gold Hill north of Breckenridge on Sunday.
The fire was confirmed by Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 4:51 p.m. Firefighters were on scene within minutes. An SC Alert confirmed the fire for the public just after 5 p.m.
By 8 p.m. the fire was mostly contained by crews with the U.S. Forest Service, plus help from Summit Fire and Red White & Blue Fire. No structures were damaged and no evacuations ordered.
Crews are back at Gold Hill today to check the perimeter and mop up hot spots.
Cause of the fire is still unknown, according to the Forest Service. There are no obvious signs of campfire or other human activity nearby.
