Social media snafu leads to 911 call in Summit

A concerned local called 911 recently after hearing “alarming” screams and yells from a neighbor’s unit.

The person reported hearing something about an ex-boyfriend and feared domestic abuse.

A Summit County sheriff’s deputy was sent to investigate. What the deputy uncovered was something far less serious than it sounded.

Turns out the screaming came from two teenage girls who were freaking out over a social media snafu. One of them had re-friended her ex on social. The girls were distraught, but nothing criminal about it.

Ex on restraint

In a different, more serious case of exes, a man reported finding his ex-girlfriend’s car parked near his home. He then found her at his unlocked front door, despite a restraining order against her.

The sheriff’s office reports she eventually left. That is when the man noticed several items missing from his home.

A patrol deputy arrived to find the woman had disappeared without her vehicle. Inside the deputy could see several of the missing items. The car was impounded and a search warrant issued, leading to the recovery of the missing items, including several that belonged to the man’s new girlfriend.

The ex is now wanted on charges of burglary and violation of a protection order.
