A whole lot of people are running for public office this election season – 32 of them to be exact.
Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne are holding town council elections April 7. The towns of Keystone and Montezuma have canceled their elections. They had just enough candidates to fill empty seats.
Frisco has the largest candidate field with 12 people vying to fill four empty council seats. That includes all four incumbents, plus returning candidate Alex Beach, known for his outspoken criticism of town housing policy.

In Silverthorne seven people are running for three council seats, including incumbents Erin Young, Jonnah Glassman and Bruce Butler, a onetime mayor who was recently appointed to council through vacancy. Just one candidate, past councilman Kevin McDonald, is running to replace outgoing mayor Ann-Marie Sandquist.

In its first election since a historic recall, town of Dillon has seven people competing to fill four seats, including two candidates for mayor: mayor pro tem Joshua Samuel and Renee Imamura, one of three officials ousted during the recall. The winner takes over for outgoing mayor Carolyn Skowyra.
