Get your running shoes on – the Summit Trail Running series is back!
Wednesday, May 14 is the Scrap Yard Scramble on Tenderfoot Mountain in Dillon. It’s opening event of the five-race summer trail running series with short and long courses for runners of any age.
The following Wednesday, May 22 is the Frisco Roundup at Frisco Peninsula, opening race of the six-race Summit Mountain Challenge town series with mountain biking divisions for juniors and adults.
For a second summer town of Breckenridge is hosting both race series. The town bought the MTB series from Westy at Maverick Sports in August 2021, and you might notice a few tweaks.
The first big change: Frisco Roundup is happening a week or two earlier than usual. Race Breck experimented with an earlier date last year and lucked out on a (mostly) dry course. Forecast this week is calling for warmer temps, partly cloudy skies, and minimal snow. But be ready for slush and muck!
The second big change: race names and routes. They are mostly minor changes, but if you’re a veteran of either series do a little research. There’s nothing worse than making a wrong turn onto the old course!
