Teen vaping is fading in Colorado. So what’s working?

Teen vaping has gone from crisis to calm in recent years.

The latest Healthy Kids Colorado Survey shows less than 8 percent of Summit High School students vape today. In 2017 it was more than 40 percent.

Statewide vaping fell from 27 to 9 percent.

Local health advocates say anti-vaping campaigns are working, and so is Summit’s 80% nicotine tax.

Money from that tax also pays for two local prevention and mentoring jobs, and subsidized 11 community trainings attended by more than 170 teachers, counselors and other professionals serving teens countywide.
