Town of Frisco is rebuilding one of its smallest town parks, Pioneer Park.
Located just a block from Frisco’s new workforce housing project at 6th and Galena, Pioneer is home to a pair of tennis courts.
Learn more about the Pioneer Park rebuild today, Dec. 15, from 3-6 p.m. at town hall. Stop by any time and tell the town what you want to see there.
“Community members will have the opportunity to explore draft park concepts, ask questions, and share what elements matter most through a dot-voting activity and comment boards,” the town shares in a press release. “Feedback will help identify a preferred direction for the park’s future improvements, including court space, nature play, trails and access, signage, gathering areas, and the park’s overall character.”
Construction begins this summer.
Here’s a little more on the town’s vision and 2019 parks master plan:
In 2019, the town adopted the Neighborhood Parks Master Plan to guide future investment in parks, open space, and recreational facilities. The plan identified a need to revitalize Pioneer Park and proposed a conceptual vision for improvements.
During that process, community members highlighted a variety of challenges, including:
- Limited visibility
- Unclear access to the tennis courts
- General need for improved amenities and maintenance
Desired improvements included:
- Retaining and enhancing the tennis courts and related amenities
- Preserving mature trees and natural areas while improving drainage and access
- Adding restrooms, signage, and parking improvements
- Clarifying winter uses and snow storage strategies
