This is the only training plan you need for Race of the Santas in Breck

Hundreds of jolly old elves dressed in red will sprint down Main Street Breckenridge in just over two weeks, Saturday, Dec. 6, for the annual Race of the Santas.

But you don’t just show up for this fun run. You’ve got to train, and town of Breck’s Jacob Ojeda is here with the only training plan you need.

“I’d be eating my cookies, drinking my milk and getting my suit pressed,” Ojeda tells Krystal 93.

His suit this year? A green grinchy costume.

Ojeda will be feeling good and looking better on Dec. 6. The Lighting of Breck starts in the Old Masonic Hall on Main with the Handmade Holiday Market from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Events begin at 3:30 p.m. with the annual dog parade – hundreds of festive pups marching down Main – followed by the kid-friendly moose march at 4 p.m. and the Race of the Santas at 4:20 p.m. Bring your own Santa suit or add one to your registration. It comes with a hat too!

Then, at 5 p.m., local dignitaries hit the switch on 250,000 LED lights. From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. meet Santa at Mountain Top Explorium for photos and wishes.

After the lighting head over to the Riverwalk Center at 7 p.m. for “The Christmas Clock,” an original holiday production by Alpine Dance Academy of Frisco. Dozens of youth dancers perform an hour-long show featuring Breckenridge, ugly sweaters and a storybook tale of friendship.
