Sapphire Point, one of the most-visited outdoor destinations in Summit County, is closed for nearly three weeks starting June 2.
The U.S. Forest Service is upgrading the parking lot and adding a shuttle stop. A new Summit Stage route, the summertime X Flyer, stops there several times per day.
This work should be finished by June 20. In September Sapphire Point will close again when the Forest Service upgrades restrooms and several trails.
Sapphire Point is the wheelchair-accessible overlook at the top of Swan Mountain Road between Breckenridge and Keystone, popular with hikers, cyclists and weddings. It is also the most-coveted reservable Forest Service site in Summit with more than 620 reservations last year.
