Tow truck driver pinned in tangle of cars on I-70 mountain corridor

A tow truck driver was hospitalized after back-to-back collisions on an icy stretch of westbound I-70 Sunday night.

It happened around 8 p.m. between Edwards and Wolcott, where the tow driver was outside of his vehicle helping a car stuck in a ditch.

That’s when Colorado State Patrol reports an F-250 slammed into the tow truck. A state trooper arrived, and soon after a Jeep slammed into the patrol cruiser, pinning the tow driver between two vehicles.

State patrol confirms the tow driver was hospitalized with non-critical injuries. The trooper escaped unharmed.
