National Weather Service has good news and bad news about the upcoming ski season.
First the bad news: La Nina will not favor Summit County.
Now the good news: She might not snub us either.
The latest winter outlook from NWS shows equal odds of above or below average snowfall and temperatures through February. It’s the same story in Park City and the Sierra Nevadas.
Forecasters are certain La Nina will favor most of Idaho, Montana and the Pacific Northwest.
This just might be the season to visit Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole or Mt Bachelor. Or you roll the dice and stick around Summit for a perfectly average season.
Or, bet it all and be ready to bust down south. Wolf Creek is off to a great start this season, but the long-term forecast is calling for a drier, warmer winter across southern Colorado, plus all of New Mexico and Arizona.
