Missing Breck man found dead near Boreas Pass

A Breckenridge man was found dead this afternoon, nearly 48 hours after he went missing.

Breckenridge PD confirms the body of Michael Derosa, 31, was discovered around 2 p.m. near Boreas Pass Road southeast of town. He was last seen Monday night leaving RMU on Main Street.

Police do not suspect foul play. Cause of death is pending through Summit County coroner.

Earlier this afternoon, Derosa’s boss at Tinplate Pizza was organizing a search party to scour the woods for him. His boss told Krystal 93 he filed a missing person’s report when there was “no word” from Derosa, who was scheduled to work Tuesday. The search party was called off when Derosa’s body was found.

In a Facebook post, Breck PD sends condolences to family and friends.

Memories are already pouring in, like Lilly, who writes, “Mike was such a cool fun guy. When we worked together I’d always try to get him to stay longer with me just because he was so fun. You’ll be missed Mike.”
