Silverthorne has dethroned Breckenridge as the biggest town in Summit County.
Silverthorne’s population last year hit 5,418 full-time residents – an estimated 500 more than Breck at 4,917 full timers.
In the past two years alone, Silverthorne has added nearly 650 people. Since 2010, the town has been responsible for more than half (60.8%) of the entire county’s growth.
For most of recent history, dating back to the mining days, Breckenridge has been the biggest town in Summit.
The latest Census data shows the county as a whole is shrinking, from 31,055 full-time residents in 2020 to 30,465 in 2023.
