Powder days? They can wait. Summit County is celebrating spooky season with a ton of fun for ghosts and ghouls of all ages.
Silverthorne Pumpkin Fest | Sunday, Oct. 5
Halloween season kicks off in Silverthorne on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the annual Silverthorne Pumpkin Fest, when Rainbow Park turns orange with hundreds of free pumpkins. There’s also a bounce castle, spooky circus from Salida Circus, and music from Krystal 93.
The pumpkin patch opens at 11 a.m. but get there early or ride your bike. Parking is always packed.
Pumpkin Wagon Rides | Oct. 6 to Oct. 31
Golf season at Breckenridge Golf Club ends on Sunday, and the very next day, Monday, Oct. 6, is opening day for Pumpkin Wagon Rides with Breckenridge Stables. A horse-drawn carriage leaves the golf clubhouse hourly, taking you on a scenic tour of the course in its fall splendor with pumpkins, hot cocoa and blankets to keep you cozy. Rides leave at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. most days. Price is $30 for kids and $50 for adults. Reserve online.
The Haunting of Breck Theater | Oct. 10 to Oct. 25
Returning to Breckenridge Backstage Theater is Summit’s only haunted house, and one of the few interactive haunted houses in the state. It’s part spook show and part escape room, all wrapped up in a custom production where YOU are the lead. This year’s show is all about UFOs and cults with all-ages access in the afternoons and a scarier PG-13 production after dark. Price is $26 for kids and $40 for adults. Get your tickets online.
Pumpkinpalooza | Oct. 11
With a name like that, how could it NOT be fun? Bring the kids to Breck Rec Center for an indoor-outdoor Halloween bash with carnival games, bounce castles, costumes, crafts and a haunted playground. Comes with a free pumpkin! Cost is $10 and spots are limited. Reserve a space online.
Tombstone Tales Tour | Thursdays
Is the Valley Brook Cemetery on Airport Road haunted? That’s for you to decide after taking a guided tour of the famous – and infamous – former locals buried in Breck’s historic cemetery. Breck History gives these tours all year long, but there’s something about perusing old tombstones in October that makes the ghosts come to life. Cost is $25 for adults, $15 for kids. Get signed up online.
